4-H Livestock Program

4-H Horse Program - Sumner County Extension Service provides an educational Horse Program. The program involves Horse Bowl and Hippology competition, horse judging, horse shows, riding clinics, farm tours, trail rides, and monthly meetings.
4-H Market Lamb Project - The market lamb project includes selecting, feeding and showing of feeder lambs. 4-H''''''''ers learn how to feed, fit and sheer lambs through a series of classes, shows, conferences and workshops.
4-H Poultry Chain Project - Each year over 500 black sex-link pullets are given to Sumner County youth to educate them about the world of agriculture. 4-H''''''''ers learn the responsibility of caring for livestock as well as learning about egg production and managing an animal project. Youth in the Poultry Chain Project receive 25 baby chicks. Each 4-H''''''''er brings back 6 pullets to the County Fair to be judged and sold to complete the program.

Junior 4-H Camp

Summer Camp for 4th, 5th & 6th graders to be held thd week of June 16 - 20, 2008, at the W. P. Ridley 4-H Camp in Columbia. Sign up date for camp is May 12 starting at 8:00 A.M. Cost is $200.00.

A advanced educational horse program that allows 4-H members the opportunity to advance knowledge and skills through a comprehensive competition related to horse science.

A project devoted to kids and their dogs. Learning about responsible dog ownership, canine anatomy, nutrition,breeds and dog ability classification. Also information on preparing your dog for dog shows. See Photo Gallery

4-H Outdoor Meat Cookery

The purpose of 4-H Outdoor Meat Cookery is to teach the art and science of safely preparing beef, pork, lamd and poultry in an outdoor setting using charcoal.This is a team or individual activity that is judged and scored in regional and state level compitition. Pictures in photo Gallery

4-H Poultry Program

The 4-H poultry program is part of the animal science project. The program will help you learn about chickens from the egg to the table. Get involved in poultry judging, growing and managing a small flock of chickens and chicken barbecue programs.
